Habitat x BMEX

Don’t dump it, donate it!

Think you’re one of the most resourceful builders in the community? Prove it! The Habitat for Humanity and BMEx Building Material Drive is inviting contractors, developers, suppliers, manufacturers, and trades across Mid-Vancouver Island to donate reusable building materials instead of sending them to landfill.

Running throughout Summer 2026 (July through September 5), your company can join this friendly industry challenge that keeps valuable materials in circulation, supports affordable housing through Habitat ReStore, and recognizes businesses leading the way in construction material reuse.

Request a free job site pickup or drop off materials at your local Habitat ReStore.

Why Participate in the Building Material Drive?

Every construction project generates surplus materials. Instead of paying to dispose of them, put them back into your community.
When you participate in the Building Material Drive, your company can:

  • Reduce disposal costs and free up job site or warehouse space
  • Receive a charitable tax receipt for eligible donations
  • Support affordable housing through Habitat ReStore
  • Keep valuable building materials out of landfill
  • Demonstrate sustainability to clients
  • Compete for the top donor title and the Community Reuse Leadership Award

Donating is Easy

Step 1: Identify, sort, and separate reusable building materials from your job site, warehouse, or project.

Step 2: Request a free job site pickup or drop materials off at your local participating Habitat Mid-Vancouver Island ReStore (Nanaimo or Duncan locations).

Step 3: We’ll ensure your donated materials stay in the community, helping fund local housing and providing affordable building materials for future projects.
